Ted Lorenty, Jr., 83
Thaddeus (Ted) Lorenty, Jr.
January 22, 1943 – September 9, 2026
Ted Lorenty, Jr., 83, of Crossville, TN, passed from this world on September 9, 2026. Ted was born in Gary, Indiana on January 22, 1943, to Thaddeus Bernard Lorenty, Sr. & Frances Tyzskowski Lorenty.
Ted was a proud Army veteran serving from 1964 – 1967 during the Vietnam War era. His service reflects a legacy he carried on from his father, Ted Sr., who was an Army Captain and World War II veteran, and a tradition continued by his beloved nephew, Courtney Gadacz, who served in the Army and is an Iraq War veteran.
Fishing was a favorite pastime for Ted. He grew to love it while living on the lake in Wisconsin with his parents, and continued the hobby during his years in Indiana, heading over to St. Joseph, Michigan whenever he got the chance. He was a passionate Chicago Cubs fan, and from his time working at Notre Dame, loved supporting the Fighting Irish. Upon moving to Crossville, he became a member and faithful attender of St. Francis Catholic Church in Fairfield Glade.
He is survived by his sisters, Frances Caprini (Robert), Pauline Halpin (Robert), Rosemary Cowan (Paul), and Loretta Tomfohrde; brother-in-law, Rod Haines; and a host of nieces and nephews, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted Sr. and Frances Lorenty, and his older sister, Lorraine Haines.
His family would like to extend heartfelt thanks and deep gratitude to the staff and nurses of Lifecare where Ted spent his later years and Gentiva Hospice for being so wonderful to Ted while they cared for him.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date in St. Adelbert’s Catholic Cemetery where he will be interred with his family.
