Marvin (Marv) Dale Nance, 86
Marvin (Marv) Dale Nance passed away on September 11, 2026 at the age of 86 in Crossville, Tennessee after a courageous battle with neck cancer.
Marv was born June 14, 1940 in Maryville, Missouri. He married Betty Jean Motz of Chicago, Illinois in 1961. They lived for many years in Illinois (Chicago, Hillside, and Huntley) and in Crossville, TN since 2022.
He was preceded in death by his brother Glenn (Charlie) Nance.
Marv will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Betty Jean, and his three children: Cheryl Sakamoto of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, Cynthia (Michael) Carpenter of Harvard, IL, and Cherice (Rudy) Gezik of Crossville, TN; two grandchildren: Colin (Anna) Munson Carpenter of Saint Paul, Minnesota and Cale Carpenter of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and one great-grandchild: Cosmo Munson Carpenter of Saint Paul, MN; sister-in-law: Dawn (John) Karasaki (nee Motz) of Kailua-Kona, HI; nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors, and kitty cat: Ginger Snap who loved to nibble his toes.
Marv had a passion for cars and was a self-taught diesel mechanic. He had a knack for fixing and improving anything in his own unique way. He loved working in his yard and enjoyed gardening. His favorite pastimes were spending time in his garage tinkering around, riding his lawn mower, bicycle riding, and swinging in his chair outside with a bottle of MGD. He was nicknamed “Marvelous Marv” because he was truly marvelous!
Marv never liked being the center of attention, so no funeral or memorial service is planned. Cremation has been arranged by Crossville Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory.
Now I lay me down to sleep; I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take.
