Roger Keith Phillips of Crossville, TN, passed away on September 18, 2026, at the age of 83. He was born on August 22, 1943, to Jesse and Ruth Masters Phillips in Jefferson City, Missouri. His family is grateful they were able to celebrate together for Keith’s 83rd birthday ahead of his passing.

Keith resided in the Slate Springs community, where he was a beloved figure. At heart, Keith loved being around people. His neighbors, as well as those who knew him, can attest that he was kind and deeply generous — even when he did not have the means. One of his happy places was behind a smoker, cooker, or grill, and he welcomed everyone to the table. Keith had a devilish sense of humor which will be deeply missed. You would seldom hear him complain, and he was easily contented.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Phillips; children, Toshia Phillips, Roger Phillips (Valerie Kilgore), Jesse Phillips (Tiffany), and Chris Phillips (Katie); stepchildren, Crystal Hale (Bobby) and Greg Horn; and 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Keith was a great man, and his laugh and the twinkle in his eyes will be dearly missed.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
