James Donald “Donnie” Jackson, age 77, of Decatur, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2026.

Donnie proudly served in the United States Army, embodying the values of service and dedication. Following his military service, he established a successful career as a lineman for VEC in Decatur, where he was known for his skill and commitment to his work.

Donnie had a true passion for the open road; he found immense joy in riding and working on Harley Davidson motorcycles, a hobby that brought him both excitement and fulfillment.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edd and Violet Jackson; brother, Tim Jackson.

He is survived by his children, Dawn (Wallace) Stutts, Kristie (Jerry) McHone, Skipper (Crystal) Jackson; grandchildren, Drew (Chynna) Mays, Matt (Samantha) Mays, Will Stutts, Jacob (Cassie) Bohannon, Alyla (Joshua) Mosley, Jenna and Tripp Jackson; great-grandchildren, Krew, Baker, Tinley, Emery, Colsen, Lilly; siblings, Garry, Phil, and Chris (Ginger) Jackson; special friends, Ben and Stephanie Summers; 4-legged companion, Hammy; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Per Donnie’s request, no formal services will be held.
