Ellis Gunter, age 64, of Clarkrange, Tennessee, passed away at his home on Friday, September 25, 2026.

Ellis was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. He had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time working in his garden. He had a great deal of love for his family and the people around him.

Faith was an important part of Ellis’ life. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and remained a believer throughout his life. His family takes comfort in his faith and in knowing that he is now at peace.

Ellis is survived by his three children, Kimberly Dawn DeRossett, Desiree Veenstra, and Adam Ellis Gunter; five grandchildren, Makala, Madison, Gavin, Levi, and Vincent; one great-grandchild, Jasper; his sisters, Rebecca Bilbrey and Rose McGill; his brother, Marvin Gunter; and a host of other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Porter Gunter.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at Clarkrange United Baptist Church, 1101 W Rock Quarry Rd, Clarkrange, TN 38553.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m., with burial to follow in Clarkrange United Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors at graveside provided by American Legion Post 137.
