In loving memory of Cheryl, who peacefully departed this world on October 2, 2026, at her cherished home, leaving behind a legacy of joy, laughter, and compassion. Cheryl was born on August 22, 1951, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to Anthony and Sylvia Saporito. She grew up with a profound love for the outdoors, which would shape her life and bring endless joy to those around her.

Cheryl had an unparalleled affinity for nature, finding solace and happiness in the company of animals. Her work with them was not just a vocation but a testament to her nurturing spirit and gentle heart. Those who were fortunate enough to know her were often greeted by her infectious laughter and her warm, inviting smile, both of which could light up even the darkest of days.

Although she didn’t have children, she considered Kimberlian Rose as her daughter, whom she cherished deeply. Kimberlian, along with her children and grandchildren, were the light of Cheryl’s life, and she loved them as though they were her own. To them, Cheryl was “Nanny”

In Cheryl’s final days, she was surrounded by the love and support of dear friends, including Kimber, Priscilia and George VanMeter, Rhonda Marksberry, Butch, Jonny, and Teresa, whose kindness and care were a tremendous comfort to her on the mountain.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to these individuals for their unwavering support and compassion.

In accordance with Cheryl’s wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor her life and legacy. Those who wish to commemorate her in a meaningful way are encouraged to support causes close to her heart, particularly those involving animal welfare and nature conservation.

Cheryl will be dearly missed, but her spirit will forever be a part of the landscapes she loved and the hearts of those who cherished her.
