Albert Gibson Lane, 69
Mr. Albert Gibson Lane, age 69 of Lancing, passed away on January 22, 2026, at Roane Medical Center. Albert is survived by his daughters, Matilda Bouton and husband Ben, and Grace Hunter and husband Brent; his granddaughter, Marcella Bouton; brother, Bill Lane and wife Sandy; brother-in-law, Phillip Lowery and wife Cindy; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Lisa Lane, and his parents, Albert and Juanita Lane. Albert grew up in Lancing. He attended Lancing School and Wartburg Central High School, before attending the University of Tennessee, where he majored in accounting.
Albert thrived on helping his community through his work. He spent much of his career with the State of Tennessee working for the Department of Human Services as a supervisor, serving Morgan and Roane Counties in family assistance. Outside of his job, he worked as an accountant for local businesses, family, and friends, and was a board member for the Plateau Utility District for several years. He retired from DHS in 2016 and finished his career at Morgan County Head Start. He retired full-time in 2020.
Albert devoted his life to Christ and was a longtime member of Lancing Presbyterian Church. He served as the church treasurer and was the song leader on Sundays. He would often perform solos during the collection of the offering. Through the church, he was able to start the Lancing School Reunion and later the Lancing Festival, where those who attended the school were able to gather, share stories, and reminisce.
Albert married Lisa Lane on July 29, 1989. They had two daughters, Matilda and Grace. The family loved to travel together, taking trips to Ireland, Canada, and a road trip across the western United States. He was a great lover of music and concerts, most notably Elton John, whom he saw in concert more than a dozen times. His other hobbies included gardening, exercise, and genealogy. He was soft-spoken, but those who knew him well knew his wonderful sense of humor and his deeply loving heart.
The family will receive friend Saturday January 31, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Davis Funeral Home, Wartburg. A Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Cathy Goodman officiating.
