Allen Prater, age 75 of Oliver Springs, TN, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Parkwest Medical Center with his loved ones by his side. Allen was a member of New Fairview Baptist Church, was an avid car “hotrod” lover racing hotrods with his loving wife Gail. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a huge outdoor guy. Allen was a pretty simple man that loved the pleasures of life.

Allen is preceded in death by his parents Tommy Lee & Lilian Prater, grandparents, John Halk and Martha Bell Nelson, grandchildren Christopher Webster and Ashley Renee Ellis along with a niece Scarlett Brock.

Allen is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Gail Brooks Prater of Oliver Springs, TN, children Tommy & Donna Prater of Oliver Springs, TN, Johnny Prater of Clinton, TN and Karen “Missy” & Brad Ellis of Oliver Springs, TN along with his “adopted” son Skeeter Clinton of Oliver Springs, TN. Grandchildren: Cassandra & Travis Witherington of Oak Ridge, TN, Gregory Prater of Clinton, TN, Jessica Ellis of Lawrenceburg, KY and Joshua Ellis of Oliver Springs, TN. Also, Aaron Roland of Norfolk, VA and Blaine Johnson of Oliver Springs, TN.

Brother, Ronnie & Gail Prater of Claxton, TN, sister, Darlene & Johnny Gilmore of Harriman, TN, brother n laws, Rodney & Janet Brooks and Michael & Beth Brooks. A host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends.

Special caregivers Wendy Smith, Djo Mitchell, Linda Wilson, Madison Hedrick and Sheryl Moore that help out assisting the family with lots of love and care.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at Sharp Funeral Home, with funeral at 7:00 P.M. with Rev. John Edwards officiating. Graveside service will be held on Sunday February 1, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. at New Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery.
