AMC SAYS VIEWERS OF “WICKED” WON’T BE ALLOWED TO SING
(Gray News) – AMC is warning moviegoers that they won’t be allowed to sing along to “Wicked.”
The warning comes in a 30-second spot that will be shown before the movie, which releases this weekend.
“At AMC Theatres, silence is golden. No talking. No texting. No singing. No wailing. No flirting. And absolutely no name-calling. Enjoy the magic of movies,” the clip says.
An AMC spokesperson told the IndyStar that the policy is nothing new, but the rules are often enforced before a specific movie – in this case, “Wicked.”
The goal of the policy is to prevent disruption and allow all guests the ability to hear the movie clearly.
Fans who got to see an advanced screening of “Wicked” were quick to notice the warning, with most applauding the rules.
“I had been loathing the idea of having my first watch of this ruined by rowdy sing-a-longers days leading up to the screening … I just wanted to be able to take it all in the first time,” one Reddit user wrote in a comment.
Enforcement of the policy might vary from location to location.
