ANDERSON CO. GRAND JURY TO HEAR ATTEMPTED MURDER CASE

A grand jury in Anderson County will soon hear an attempted first-degree murder case for possible indictments to be issued. Court officials say the judge sent the case against 52-year-old Charles Mason to the grand jury after a preliminary hearing. Mason is also charged with aggravated assault stemming from an incident back in April on Black Oak Road. Mason allegedly pointed a firearm at a deputy trying to take Mason into custody and pulled the trigger multiple times. Officers say the weapon failed to shoot when Mason’s shirt got caught between the guns hammer and firing mechanism. Mason is being held in the Anderson County jail under bonds totaling just over $400,000.
