ANDERSON COUNTY MAN SENTENCED FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER
An Oak Ridge man was sentenced in court after pleading guilty to three counts of attempted first-degree murder. The judge gave 25-year-old Jacob Lynn Rutherford twenty years on each count to serve concurrently. Back in January of 2018, officers responded to the Bread Box on Edgemoor Road and found 36-year-old Nathan Lynn Phillips of Clinton with gunshot wounds. Deputies also went to a home on the 3000 block of Clinton Highway where they found 34-year-old William Ernest Foster, who had also been shot. Rutherford was charged with attempted murder for the shootings of Phillips and Foster. He also shot at a third person but missed resulting in the third attempted murder charge.
