ARREST MADE IN SHOOTING INCIDENT IN WAYNE COUNTY, KENTUCKY

According to Wayne County, Kentucky Sheriff Tim Catron, an arrest has been made after a home was shot into from a nearby residence.

Deputies responded late last night to a dwelling on Slagle Chriswell Road. The occupants of the residence stated they heard a loud gunshot then found a bullet hole inside their home. The projectile entered the structure then traveled thru three rooms then lodged in a clothes dryer door. As the bullet traveled thru the residence it came close to striking the occupants. The deputies followed the path of the projectile which led them to a nearby residence. After they were unable to contact anyone at the residence the officers obtained a search warrant.

Upon executing the search warrant deputies observed 21-year-old Zackary D. McGuire of Monticello in a recliner with a handgun lying next to him on a table. Deputies also located 5 spent/empty bullet casings inside the residence that were consistent with the size of the projectile located in the dryer of the other residence.

The officers arrested McGuire for two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and one count of first-degree criminal mischief. McGuire was taken to the Wayne County Detention Center. He is initially being held without bond.

The investigation is continuing by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office with evidence being sent to the Kentucky State Police Laboratory for ballistic testing.
