B.W.X. TECHNOLOGIES TO ESTABLISH CENTRIFUGE ASSEMBLY FACILITY IN OAK RIDGE
Governor Bill Lee and Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter announced a grant for BWXT Enrichment Operations, LLC to establish a centrifuge assembly manufacturing facility in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. BWXT will invest at least $45 million and create 60+ jobs, purchasing 96.53 acres for the site to support the National Nuclear Security Administration’s defense program.
This marks the third grant from Tennessee’s Nuclear Energy Fund, which supports nuclear industry growth and education, with $50 million allocated in 2023-2024, $10 million in 2024, and another $10 million proposed for 2025.
BWXT employs over 1,140 in Tennessee, and the project strengthens the state’s role in nuclear innovation and energy independence.
