Barbara Ann Guinn, 85
In loving memory of Barbara Ann Guinn
Barbara, a beloved wife, mother, nana, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025, at the age of 85. She was surrounded by her loving family, who will forever cherish the warmth, wisdom, and kindness she shared with everyone she met.
Born on February 12, 1940, in Ten Mile, Tennessee. Barbara was a beacon of love and strength. She dedicated her life to her family, always putting others before herself and ensuring her home was filled with laughter, comfort, and unconditional love. Her gentle guidance and unwavering support shaped the lives of those she loved, and her legacy of kindness will live on through them.
If she wasn’t in the kitchen preparing one of her famous meals or desserts, she could be found at a ball field, gymnasium, or stadium watching and supporting Billy Joe, her 4 children, and her 3 grandchildren. For 20 years, she was fondly known as the milk lady at the Kingston Elementary and High School cafeteria, where she also had a special bond with her co-workers.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Sudie and Tom Hixson, her sisters Edna Rucker and Jessie Hixson, and her brothers, Boyd, Roy, Junior, Willie, and Mack Hixson.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Billy Joe Guinn, her children, Cindy, Connie, Scott (Jenny), Stephen (Semea) Guinn, her grandchildren, Ethan (Kendall), Bailey, and Ella Guinn, and her sister Louise (Glenn) Ballew.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 3rd from 4:00-6:00 with the funeral to follow at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Reverend Adrian Jones officiating. The burial will be Wednesday, March 5th at Kingston Memorial Gardens at 11:00. Since Barbara loved giving to others, the family suggests donating to Hands of Mercy.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find solace in knowing that her love will always be with us. Mom may be gone from our sight, but she will never be gone from our hearts.
