Basil O. Phillips, Jr., gained his Heavenly address on 10.10.25. He was born to Basil Sr. & Bertie Phillips on July 5th, 1951, in Overton County, TN.
He is preceded in death by his siblings J.B. Phillips, Bertha Hite, Edith Bowman, Evelyn Crabtree, David Phillips, & Daniel Phillips as well as son-in-love William D. Maynard.
Mr. Phillips is survived by his loving and loyal wife of 54 years Brenda Hite- Phillips; Daughter Melissa R. Maynard; Son and Daughter-in-Love Jason Basil & Kasie Dennis-Phillips. “Pa” leaves behind 3 Grandsons: Elijah C. Maynard, Samuel E. Maynard, & Judah Basil Phillips. He is also survived by beloved Brother & Sister-in-Love Tim & Angie Hite and very dear family friend Vicki Walters.
Basil was the Founder & Senior Pastor of Victory Christian Center in Monterey, TN for 35 years where he faithful demonstrated his love for God exemplifying a life dedicated to Kingdom service. He loved deeply the flock he shepherded over throughout the years and courses of his ministry.
Whether remembered as husband, Dad, “Pa”, friend, “Junior”, “B.O.” or “Pastor”, Basil’s memory will remain a blessing. We will recall his deeply held integrity, remarkable work ethic, his love of the Word of God, his passion for his country, fervency in prayer, and how he honored his word as his bond. Basil Phillips lived by his unwavering convictions, fought the good fight of faith, & has now gained his longing – to be present with Jesus!
Both Visitation & Celebration of Life will be held at D.M. Goff Funeral Home – 205 E. Cleveland Ave. Monterey, TN.
