BILL ADVANCES TO CREATE STRONGER PENALTIES FOR MINORS ACCUSED OF RAPE
The Tennessee House of Representatives passed a bill last night that would create harsher penalties for minors who commit rape. If it passes the state senate and signed into law by the governor, House Bill 0323 would give judges the authority to put underage rapists in juvenile detention instead of just probation.
State Representative Jason Hodges says the way the law is presently, a child would be on the same bus going to school at the same school as the person they victimized under the current law.
