BILL INTRODUCED TO RAISE TENNESSEE MINIMUM WAGE TO $15 AN HOUR

A bill filled in the Tennessee legislature this week calls to raise the state minimum wage to $15 an hour. Senator Jeff Yarbro introduced State Bill 1788 called the Tennessee Minimum Wage Act and would seek to raise the current minimum wage in the state from $7.25 to $15 per hour. He also filed State Bill 1797, which would also increase the minimum wage for state employees to $15. Both bills, if passed, would take effect on July 1, 2020. No word yet on when a vote will take place for both bills.
