Bobby Gene Reynolds, III passed away in his sleep at the age of 35, on March 1, 2023, and went to his eternal home to rest with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He will be greatly missed, as his passing leaves a huge void in our lives but knowing that he is at peace with Jesus is our greatest comfort.
Bobby was a wonderful father, a caring brother, a proud uncle, a loving son, and a blessing to all of his friends and family which led him to have many nicknames, such as Mule, Pooky, Bobcat, Bob, Sugar, #3.
But the greatest name he ever had is “Daddy.” He is survived by his son, the light of his life, Rhylen Gentry Reynolds; his parents, Bobby Jr. and Tanya; two brothers, Daniel (Cassie) and Kyle (Kendra); niece, Morgan; nephew, Weston; paternal grandmother, Sally; two uncles, Mark Ellis (Janna) and Duane Reynolds (Laura); three great uncles and aunts, Carl Hance (Janice), James Reynolds (Annette), John Reynolds (Lou); and a whole host of cousins, Alexander, Augustus, Neil, Adrianna and Olivia. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Bobby Gene Reynolds, Sr.; and his maternal grandparents, Clay, and Lois Ellis.
Bobby was born on February 11, 1988, in Gainesville, Florida, and lived most of his life in Florida and Tennessee, with 4 years spent in New Hampshire. He loved family time and would plan and organize every detail for Christmas, Thanksgiving, or any other family get-together. He wanted things right for everyone and he left no detail undone.
Bobby was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Hermitage, Tennessee. He was an avid fan of all sports but his passion in the world of sports was Alabama Crimson Tide Football. He was also a member of an elite group called, “The Tripod” … the membership was exclusive and limited to only him and his two brothers and it was an unbreakable bond and an unconditional love that couldn’t be shaken.
Bobby enjoyed being on the water, swimming, boating, or just staring at the water. He loved the Gulf of Mexico and J. Percy Priest Lake and was always so happy on either. He always said, with his chest puffed out, “We’re boat people!”
Bobby played football from the time he was 5 years old all the way through high school at Wilson Central and continued his playing days as a member of the Murfreesboro Red Devils for 2 years.
He recently took his knowledge and love of the game to coach Rhylen’s little league football team in Cookeville sharing with him his love of sports, but his greatest pleasure was watching his son play and enjoy the competition.
Of all the things that Bobby loved the most, nothing can compare to the love he had for his son, Rhylen, he adored him and would do anything for him. He recently said, “If there is any way that I could be sure that Rhylen never felt any pain, I would gladly do it.” Everyone that met him knew of his love for his son, you could see it in the tender way he spoke to him, in the way he raised him with respect and kindness. He was a loving and patient father and always brought out the best in Rhylen. Their love for his son was something that was beautiful to see. It was a selfless love, a love that could only be experienced, a love that could never be fully described.
The family will have a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, located at 1003 Hickory Hill Lane, Hermitage, Tennessee, with Reverend Keith Enko officiating.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Tony Compton, Nik Hofferber, Jason Gadbois, Taylor Hix, and Hayden Hix.
His ashes will be spread at a few locations that were dear to his heart…Bryant-Denny Stadium, Wilson Central High School Football Field, J. Percy Priest Lake, and the Gulf of Mexico (Flora-Bama).
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in honor of Bobby to Rhylen’s “GoFundMe” for future extracurricular expenses for school and sports activities.
