BONE HELPS NO. 1 VOLS TO 16TH STRAIGHT WIN, 93-76 AGAINST TEXAS A&M

The Tennessee Vols beat back Texas A&M last night, 93-76, for their 16th straight win. The win puts them at 20-1 for the season, and 8-0 Southeastern Conference play. It also shatters a school record for most consecutive wins. The 16th win beat a 15-game record shared with the 1915-1917 teams.  Grant Williams finished with 22 points. Junior point guard Jordan Bone netted 18 points, 10 assists and five rebounds in the effort.

The last time the Vols hit 20 wins so early in the season was 2007-’08 (but that wasn’t until February 5), when they cruised to an SEC championship.

Speaking of the SEC… this is also their best start in SEC play since the 1981-’82 season.

This win puts the Vols in a strong position for a third consecutive number-one ranking in the AP college poll, due to be released tomorrow.

Next on the Vols’ schedule is Missouri; that’ll be Tuesday night in Knoxville, the start of a three-game home stand.
