Celebration of Life Services for Bonnie Delaine “Laney” Morton, age 70, of Cookeville, Tennessee, will be conducted on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at 2:00 PM from The Chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Pastor Steve Looper will officiate. Full Military Honors will be provided by the Veterans Honor Guard with Inurnment in the F.A. Norrod Cemetery to follow at a later date. Ms. Morton was born on Saturday, December 25, 1954, in Monterey, Tennessee, to the late Rev. Talmadge and Bonnie Phillips. Ms. Morton passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at her home. Ms. Morton was a retired Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force serving as a Nurse with 20 years of service serving war time duty during Desert Storm. She received various awards and medals including Southwest Asia Service Medal with 2 devices, Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon, Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award with 4 devices, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon/Rifle, Kuwait Liberation Medal Kuwait, Kuwait Liberation Medal Saudia Arabia, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award w/Valor with 1 Device, and numerous other decorations, medals, and citations. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church since the age of 10 and a Monterey High School Graduate Class of 1972. She is survived by her daughters, Chastity Morton of Cookeville, TN, Ashley Morton of Cookeville, TN; grandson, Layton Delaine Goodwin; sister and brother-in-law, Delene and Dwayne Pickering of Greenville, TN; nieces, Tamara (Shawn) Julian and Tiffany (Scott) Caldwell; great nieces, Peyton, Paige, Lexi, Abby, and Libby; great great nieces and nephews, Langston, Tanner, Presley, Ava Jane, and Wesley; and best friends, Buffy and Tizz. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dewayne Phillips; and infant brother, Jimmy Phillips. The family expresses special thank you to Gentiva Hospice and especially Nurse, Ashley Phillips.
