Celebration of Life Services for Captola Guffey Melton, age 60, of Monterey, Tennessee, will be conducted on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 6:00 PM from The Chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Rev. Walt Phillips will officiate. Ms. Melton was born on Saturday, November 27, 1965, in Overton County, Tennessee, to the late Lemo and Neoma Bilbrey Guffey. Ms. Melton passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026. Captola was a CNA previously working with Standing Stone Care and Rehabilitation Center. She loved making jewelry, sewing, and knitting. She was the best and number one mother and grandmother who found great pleasure in playing with Gabriel. She was Baptist in faith. She is survived by her daughter, Amber Melton of Monterey, TN; son, Teak Melton (Macayla Robinson) of Algood, TN; grandchildren, Gabriel McKee, Destiny Macri, and Ciara Swallows; brothers, Quendon Guffey (Rachel Heady) of Monterey, TN, Lendon (Ruth) Guffey of Gainesboro, TN; father of her children, Lee Melton of Monterey, TN; and sister-in-law, Anna Guffey of the Hanging Limb Community. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Glendon Dale, Clendon B. “C.B.”, Kennith, Clinton, and Kinley Guffey; and infant twins, Lenton and Denton Guffey. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be given to the funeral home.
