Carolyn Lee (Fitzgerald) Hubbard, 80

Carolyn Lee (Fitzgerald) Hubbard, 80, born in Louisville Kentucky, on May 7, 1945, passed away in Oswego, NY on October 31, 2025. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion. Carolyn devoted her life to her family and community, having spent over 57 years married to her faithful husband, Herman Leslie Hubbard. Together, they raised four children; Marnita, Jon, Leslie and Aaron.

She grew up in Southern Kentucky and attended Stoney Point Elementary School, followed by Cumberland County High School, and furthered her studies at Cosmetology School and Bryant & Stratton College, equipping herself with skills that would serve her throughout her career.

A hardworking professional, Carolyn had a multifaceted career which included roles in her own beauty shop, managing accounts payable and receivable, sales, and bookkeeping. Her diverse experience spanned throughout other jobs, including Avon, Sarah Coventry Jewelry, Century House, Gaylord Library Supplies and the Upper Cumberland Anesthesia Associates of Cookeville. She was known for her remarkable ability to touch the lives of those around her no matter how big or small.

Carolyn’s personality resonated with all who knew her. Described as kind, caring, encouraging, loyal, smart, funny, loving, and beautiful, she effortlessly brought joy and light into the lives of her family and friends. Her unwavering faith was a guiding light. She was a devoted member of Wetzel Rd Church of Christ in Liverpool, NY, and Netherland Church of Christ in Rickman, TN. She was always there to listen when anyone needed her responding with, “Have you prayed about it?”.

She had an energetic spirit. Her sister recalls that she ran everywhere, so much so that her mother made her long sleeve coveralls to wear in cold weather because she never took the time to stop and put on her coat. This continued into her adult life and her children affectionately called her the “Energizer Bunny”. She had a love of photography and Snow White as a connection to her father, who passed when she was just 7 years old. She had a green thumb and a love of house plants, outdoor flowers, and crafts, connecting her to her mom and sisters.

Her love for her family was her proudest accomplishment. Carolyn felt great pride in being a wife, mother and grandmother, cherishing her daughter, Marnita (Gary) Hubbard Ware; daughter in law, Annie Hubbard; sons, Leslie Andrew (Kara) Hubbard and Aaron Lee (JaNese) Hubbard; grandchildren, Christopher (Jenn) Ware, Morgan Hubbard, Briana, Brett, and Kyra Nielsen, and Jordan, Kaelee, and Eric Hubbard; as well as her great-grandchildren, Wyatt Nielsen and Skylar and Harper Ware. She also cherished her sisters, Wanda (Jim) Graham and Shelia (Mike) Keefe; sister-in-law, Beatrice (Roy) Henderson; Aunt, Pat Dalton; several nieces and nephews. A special thank you to The Maple’s Assisted Living for taking care of her the last couple of months.

Carolyn was predeceased by her husband, Herm Hubbard by just 14 days; son, Jonathan “Jon” Edward Hubbard; her granddaughter, Jayma LeeAnn Ware; her father, Edward Ade Fitzgerald; mother, Robbie Lee Watson Fitzgerald Ferguson; her baby sister, Rebbeca Fitzgerald; and step-father, Paul Ferguson.

While her physical presence is deeply missed, her spirit lives on in the hearts of many. She will forever be remembered for her undeniable impact on family, friends, and her community.
