CB “Shorty” Richardson

Born Clarence Bedford, called Tooter as a boy, made famous in the newspapers in the 50’s as CB (Shorty) Richardson died on March 16, 2023. He lived a long life loved by his family and friends. A proud member of Teamsters Local 327, and later Local 480, Both in Nashville TN. He was instrumental in ensuring that southern truck drivers got fair wages for the work of supplying the nation. As a young man, he proudly served in the US NAVY during WWII. In his later years he enjoyed visiting with family and feeding his birds and squirrels.

He is preceded in death by his wife Fran, and daughter Sheryl. He is survived by his daughter Christy, son Steve, and daughter in law Lorraine, 6 granddaughters and 11 great grandchildren. There will be a “Going Away” party in his honor on June 11, 2023, at the Tea Room at Standing Stone State Park near Livingston TN from 1-6 pm. As there will be no traditional service, there will be no need for flowers. Instead, Shorty would love nothing more than to make a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. There will be a donation box at the party. For those unable to attend, Goff Funeral Home in Monterey TN has graciously offered to accept check donations, or you can donate directly to St. Jude. Sorry, no card transactions. We look forward to seeing everyone.
