Charles Oscar Noe, 87
Charles Oscar Noe, 87, of Harriman, TN, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family and loved ones, on March 17, 2025.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, he was dearly loved by all who knew him. He had a big heart and loved to joke with his family and friends, always bringing smiles and laughter to those around him.
Born on February 4, 1938, in Robbins, Tennessee, he was the son of Reverend Oscar and Evelyn Noe. He attended Coalfield High School and graduated from Tusculum College in 1990. Charles proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1976 as a Chief Petty Officer and was lovingly called “Chief” by those who served with him. After retiring from the Navy, he returned to Tennessee to serve as the Fleet Manager for the Y-12 Plant for 22 years. He was also a member of Masonic Omega Lodge 536.
Charles loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed attending services at Middle Creek Baptist Church and singing in the choir. His hobbies included bowling, genealogy, and fishing. He loved music and would spend hours listening to and singing along with his vast collection of tapes and CDs. With his big heart and warm spirit, Charles never met a stranger—always seeing the people in his life as more than just friends—he considered many of them family. Above all, he loved the Lord, and we find peace in knowing he will be waiting for us in Heaven.
Charles is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mamie Sue Noe; his parents, Reverend Oscar and Evelyn Noe; and his baby sister, Phyllis Jackson.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Teague Noe, and her children, Katrina Moore (Gerald) and Scott McPeters. He is also survived by his children with Mamie Sue: Charles Darell Noe (Lurley), Gregory Lee Noe (Teresa), and Melody Noe-Carroll; as well as his sisters, Nancy Armes and Gladys Ann Noe Christmas (Robert). Additionally, he leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Scott Noe (Tasha), Heather Chadwick (Kirk), Amanda Haynes (Jimmie), Christopher Noe, Erika Gouge (Kirk), Rebekah Sullivan, Isaac Noe, and Audrey Noe. He was also blessed with 15 great-grandchildren, who he loved dearly: Zack Noe, Kane Gouge, Kylianna Haws, Isaiah Haynes, Wyatt Noe, Aaron Noe, Korbann Gouge, Lilie Haynes, Journey Gouge, Evie Chadwick, Amberlie Haynes, Logan Chadwick, John Sullivan, Emory Gouge, and Brynn Sullivan.
The family would like to extend their love and gratitude to Quality Private Duty Care, especially his “Charlie’s Angels + Boz”: Katrina Morris, Tammy Colston, Kim Hamilton, Kristina Ellis, and Jason Eley.
Visitation will be on March 22, 2025 from 12-2 pm at Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs. Funeral service will begin at 2 pm and Graveside service will follow at Union Baptist Church Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Services will be led by his son, Bishop Charles Noe, and Pastor Corey Jones.
