Cordelia “Dee” Jones, age 97, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024, at NHC of Oak Ridge.

Mrs. Jones was born on the 3^rd day of September 1927 in Shoopman, KY. She moved to the Goby community of Morgan County in 1948 and onto Oliver Springs in 1955, where she continued to live.

Following her McCreary County Kentucky High School graduation, she moved to Cincinnati, Ohio and began employment at Crosley Radio Manufacturing where radios were made to be installed into the B-19’s and B-29’s that were used in WWII. She and the love of her life, Carl Jones, were married June 4, 1945. The couple later moved to Florida where she worked in the employment office at the U.S. Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, while her husband served in the Navy.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a member of the First Baptist Church of Oliver Springs. Her hobbies included being a mom, caring for her family, and flower gardening.

She is preceded in death by her husband Carl Eugene Jones; parents John L. and Louanna Smith Phillips; by brother James E. Phillips; sister Margie Blankenship; nephews Mike Phillips and Roger Phillips.

She is survived by her son Cleston E. Jones and wife Emily; by daughter Karen Chandler and husband Scott; grandchildren Brian E. Jones, Michael Chandler, and Jennifer Greer and husband Lance; also, by 5 great-grandchildren.

Cordelia is also survived by sister Gretta Lawson and her husband Ron; by special niece Jonna Wood; and by nephews Jonathan Lawson and Dr. Jeffrey Lawson.

Visitation will be held at Premier Sharp Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, from 11:00AM to 1:00PM.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00PM at Premier Sharp Funeral Home with Pastor Kirk Wallace and Reverend Charles Parker officiating.

Burial will follow at 2:00PM at Anderson Memorial Gardens.
