Cordell Johnson, 78
Cordell Johnson, 78, passed away peacefully at home on January 29 surrounded by family after a long valiant battle with multiple serious illnesses. He was completely dedicated to the love of his life, Sherry Johnson. They were inseparable and she was a devoted wife and caretaker. Cordell was a proud husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend who never hesitated to let people know that he loved them and made it a point to check on people.
He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved children, Lori (Bryan) Dameron, and Christopher (Ripley) Johnson. His adoring grandchildren were his pride and joy, Erika Dameron (Casey Reeve), Jacob Dameron, River Johnson, David McClune. He cherished his siblings dearly, Frank (Alma) Johnson and Peggy (Woody) Duncan and dearly loved sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lynda Carter and Denny (Kathy) Miller.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Pauline Johnson, and his in-laws, Woodrow and Lorena Miller.
He was an avid Lady Vols basketball and softball fan, loved to garden and be out on his tractor. Special thanks to Drs. Weaver, Sizemore, Ibach, Sharma, Ramsey, Bae, Robinson, Hayes, Edwards and Mr. Morgan. Also special thanks to, Mr. Agee, Christy, Amedisys, Quality Care, Kelly, Christy, Laura, Margo,and a very special thanks to Summer. Cordell’s sense of humorand kind heart made him a favorite to so many who have also now lost a dear friend and loved one. He was so fortunate to have so many special friends and groups of friends that meant so much to him that we cannot possibly name you all here, but you know you were and are still very loved and cherished.
Cordell was a member of First Baptist Church of Oliver Springsand the family will receive friends there at the church on Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with a service starting at 12:00 pm with Rev. Kirk Wallace and Rev. Doug White officiating. Interment will take place at Roane Memorial Gardens in Rockwood, TN after the service at 2:00 pm. Evans Mortuary is serving the family of Mr. Johnson.
It was Cordell’s wish that we laugh, reminisce, and smile together during this time. “I hope you have Jesus as your Savior, if you do, I will see you again.” In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Tennessee.
