Funeral Services for Coy Buckner, age 79, of Monterey, Tennessee, will be conducted on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at 11:00 AM from The Chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Rev. Johnny Jones and Pastor Steve Looper will officiate with interment to follow in the Phillips Cemetery in the Anderson Community. Mr. Buckner was born on Saturday, August 21, 1943, in Overton County, Tennessee, to the late Issac Lee and Ethel Lee Phillips Buckner. Mr. Buckner passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mr. Buckner was owner/operator of Buck’s Fireworks for 62 years, Standing Stone Grocery for 10 ½ years, and Buckner’s Casual Wear for 30 years. He loved any game, puzzle or trick and enjoyed watching people try to solve them. He never met a stranger, was always smiling, and lived to make people smile. He fought a long battle of Alzheimer’s disease. He was a Christian. He is survived by his daughter and caregiver, Regina Buckner of Monterey, TN; special friend, Jay Woolfrom of Mayland, TN; sister and brother-in-law, Edna and Perry Brown of Cookeville, TN; sister-in-law, Dimple Buckner of Monterey, TN; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Bean Buckner; sisters, Marie Looper, Leann “Anna” Buckner, and Hazel Buckner; brothers, Gene, Harson, Hollis, and Carl Buckner; and infant brother, Grover Buckner.
