CRISWELL ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER

Wayne County, Kentucky Sheriff Tim Catron says 32-year-old Logan Jarrord Criswell of Monticello has been arrested on multiple charges including attempted murder of a police officer.

Deputies Jerry Coffey and Derek Dennis was following up on a suspected drug dealer early last night. They located Criswell in a vehicle on East Highway 90 who turned into the Valero station. Once a traffic stop was conducted, Criswell allegedly tried to flee the scene and almost ran over one of the officers.

Criswell was stopped and refused to exit the vehicle. He was removed by force.

When a female passenger exited the automobile,  drug paraphernalia items consistent with drug trafficking were noticed inside the vehicle in plain view of the deputies.

Law enforcement noticed the woman had multiple injuries to her body with strangulation marks and black tape on her neck. The female stated she had been beaten with a nail puller, tied up and was not allowed to leave.

A search of the vehicle resulted in over 8 ounces of methamphetamine, 75 diazepam tablets, digital scales, plastic baggies consistent with drug trafficking and $833 in cash.

Deputies charged Criswell with attempted murder of a police officer, kidnapping (with serious physical injury), strangulation, assault, wanton endangerment involving a police officer, wanton endangerment, resisting arrest, trafficking in a controlled substance-1st degree (greater than or equal to 2 grams of methamphetamine), trafficking in a controlled substance-3rd degree (greater than or equal to 2 but less than or equal to 120 drugs unspecified),  and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The female was taken to the Wayne County Hospital where she was admitted for treatment.

Criswell was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.

Deputies Coffey and Dennis were assisted at the scene by Monticello Police Officer John Hurd, Lake Cumberland Drug Task Force Director Wayne Conn and Sheriff Catron.

The investigation is continuing by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
