Decatur – David William “Dave” Burgess, age 78, of Ten Mile, passed away on June 30, 2025.

He attended Ten Mile Baptist Church. He was a United States Navy Veteran, an avid Tennessee Vols and Lady Vols Fans, and enjoyed being outdoors, especially golfing and fishing. He was a devoted Poppi to his grandsons, Wil and Wyatt.

He was preceded in death by parents: Herbert and Thelma Hamrick Burgess.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years: Lisa Burgess; children: Jeff (Roberta) Franklin, Tiffany Franklin, Tiffany (Tony) Parson, Jeff (Donna) Burgess; grandchildren: Wil Franklin, Wyatt Franklin, Josh Parson, Justin Parson, Allie Parson; mother and father in-law: Cecil and Marie Underwood; “brother Dave” to Amy Underwood; several great-grandchildren and Other Extended family.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025, in the Chapel of Decatur Funeral Home & Cremation Services with the Rev. Freddy Cunningham officiating. Interment will follow in the Pisgah Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12 – 2 p.m., prior to the service.
