DEKALB COUNTY JURY CONVICTS BILLINGS OF ATTEMPTED MURDER

Today, after a two day trial, a DeKalb County jury found 31-year-old Andrew Lafate Billings guilty of attempted first-degree murder of his wife.

Andrew Billings took his wife in a vehicle to a remote location and began stabbing her, he grabbed her by the hair and cut her throat with the intent to kill her. He was motivated by his belief that is wife “snitched” on him related to drug charges that were pending. She survived the attack.

The defendant’s mother testified that two days prior to the attack, her son told her that he was going to kill his wife. Andrew Billings obtained the murder weapon, a knife, from the home of the mother of his former girlfriend who he had not seen in 4 years.

A hearing is set to be held September 20, 2019 to determine Billings sentence.
