Funeral Services for Dessie Whittaker, age 68, of Monterey, Tennessee, will be conducted on Monday, September 22, 2025, at 2:00 PM from The Chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Rev. Michael Swallows will officiate with interment to follow in the Muddy Pond Cemetery. Mrs. Whittaker was born on Saturday, October 13, 1956, in Monterey, Tennessee, to the late Edwin Jaue and Lillie Hennie Blaylock Vernon. Mrs. Whittaker passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Mrs. Whittaker worked with Ely & Walker and Lay Simpson Furniture. She enjoyed quilting and knitting. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a Christian. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Harvey Whittaker of Monterey, TN; daughter, Rebecca Ashburn (James Wade) of Sevierville, TN; son, Curt Whittaker (Angelia England) of Monterey, TN; grandsons, Aaron Ashburn, John Ashburn, and James Wade III; granddaughter, Kylea (Hunter) Lewis; great grandchildren, Kaydan, Xyla, and Clover; and brother, Jimmy Vernon of Monterey, TN. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sue Farley; and brother, Albert “Punkin” Vernon.
