Dollie Marlene Neal, 90

Hood – DOLLIE MARLENE NEAL passed away June 27, 2025 in Gallatin, TN. She was born October 17, 1934 at home, above a H.G. Hill grocery in Nashville, TN.

She is survived by her former husband- Porter Neal of Nashville, daughter- Donna Rippy and her husband Harold “Doug”of Gallatin, grandchildren- Anthony Stock of Ashland City, Kenneth Rippy and Nicholas Rippy of Gallatin, great grandchildren- Brooklynn Stock, McKenzie Stock and Kaylee Stock all of Ashland City, son- Alan R. Neal of St Petersburg, FL, a host of nieces and nephews and a dearly loved cousin- Imogene Kincaid.

She was preceded in death by her parents- James Russell and Lela Burnett Farmer, brothers- Glen Farmer, Marvin Farmer, Robert “Clyde” Farmer and James “Jimmy” Farmer and sister- Doris M. Forrester.

Dollie was a business owner in Nashville for almost 30 years. She was a stationary engraver and probably the only female engraver in the country. Starting at age 18, she mastered the art and strength required in a male dominated field. She worked for Judges, Governors, Presidents, Vice Presidents, country music royalty and the list could go on.

She had a love for music. She played piano and accordion and really loved to sing at church. She and her husband Porter often caught attention for their shared names with Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner when they were introduced on stage.

She loved God and her family unconditionally. She helped raise all of her grandsons and lived with her daughter since 1996. She died at her daughter’s home after a twenty year battle with dementia and other health issues. She will be greatly missed.

Graveside services were held at Woody Cemetery in Crossville, TN.
