Goff – Funeral Services for Edgar “Ed Carson” Buckner Jr., Age 82, of Monterey, Tennessee, will be conducted on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 10:00 AM from The Chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Rev. Brad Harris and Rev. Tony Phipps will officiate with interment to follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery. Edgar passed away at his home on Monday, June 23, 2025. He was born on Monday, April 12, 1943, in Monterey, Tennessee, to Edgar Carson Buckner Sr. and Lola Avo Blaylock Buckner. Edgar was employed by and retired from the telephone industry. Following retirement, he was self-employed as a carpenter and electrician. Beyond his successful career and seemingly limitless skills, Edgar was a man whose presence elevated every room he entered. Through wit, charisma, humor, and a generous spirit, he changed countless lives for the better. As a husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend, Edgar was honorable, dependable, and kind. Edgar is survived by his wife of 61 years, Thelma Phillips Buckner of Monterey, TN; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher “Mutt” Buckner and Gina Stephens Buckner of Monterey, TN; daughter, Tammy Melton of Monterey, TN; three grandchildren, Zach Hodge and Michael Buckner of Monterey, TN, and Andrew Buckner of Cookeville, TN; one sister, Edna Reeves of Monterey, TN; and a host of nieces and nephews. Edgar was preceded in death by his father and mother as well as four sisters, Alma Garrett and Henrietta Langford of Monterey, TN, Mabel Woolbright of Crossville, TN, and Evelyn Marrow of Springfield, TN. The family would like to thank Gentiva Health Services and Goff Funeral Home for the excellent care they provided Edgar and express our love to all those who have called, visited, or sent their affection to us.
