Edith Sue Bailey, age 81, of Harriman, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, at NHC in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

Born on March 18, 1944, in Middlesboro, Kentucky, Edith was the daughter of the late Everette and Mildred Nagle. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Gary Lynn Bailey.

Edith earned her bachelor’s degree from Carson-Newman University, where she met the love of her life, Gary, and later received her master’s degree from Tennessee Tech University, class of 1995.

She dedicated 41 years of her life to teaching Home Economics at Cumberland Middle School and Harriman High School, inspiring generations of students.

An avid reader, Edith found joy in a good book and cherished her weekly bridge club gatherings. Her kindness, humor, and gentle spirit were felt by all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Kris Mynatt; granddaughters Bailey and Abigail Mynatt; sister, Margaret Peace; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Betty Nagle; several nieces and nephews; and her loyal Goldendoodle, Yobe.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Roane County Animal Shelter, 296 Manufacturers Road, Rockwood, Tennessee, 37854, in Edith’s memory.

The family will host a celebration of life on Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Gates Hall Event Venue, located at 408 North Roane Street, Harriman, Tennessee. Kyker Funeral Home of Harriman is serving the Bailey Family.
