Essie Lowe Baker, 89

Essie Lowe Baker, age 89 gained her wings and took her first steps on the shores of Glory on August 9, 2025. Essie lived out her life in Oliver Springs, TN with her daughter and grandchildren. She was known for her deep love for family and for her cake decorating talent. Essie worked and honed her craft at Franks Donut Shop in Oak Ridge, TN from 1972 – 1984. She later took up cake decorating and candy making from home. Essie was an artistic soul who spent her time creating beauty through baking and crafting. She was an avid video game warrior who shared her penchant of game playing with her grandchildren. Essie was also known to scour the woods looking for ginseng. She also spent hours searching for trinkets and treasure with her metal detector. Later in life, Essie found hope and faith in the Lord. She attended Big Mountain Baptist Church in Oliver Springs, TN when she was able. Essie left this world peacefully after living so loudly in the lives of her family. Her absence will be forever felt.
Essie was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Baker; her father and mother, Calvin and Clancy Lowe; sisters Ruby Davis, Velcie Lowe and Oma Arthur. Brothers Elber, Eugene, R.L., D.L. and Howard Lowe. Son-in-law Donnie West and great nephew Jay Davis Jr.
Essie is survived by her daughter Donna West, granddaughter Natasha West, granddaughter and grandson-in-law Amber and Todd Duncan, great grandchildren: Isaiah, Jericho and Allie Duncan along with a nephew Jay Davis. Also a special friend, Patricia Kennedy.
In place a a funeral service a Celebration of Life ceremony will be held by the family at a later date.
