Funeral services for Eugene “Gene” Cope, age 86, of Byrdstown, will be Saturday, June 1, at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Chapel, with burial to follow in East Liberty Cemetery in Akron, Ohio. Family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Survivors include widow, Martha Louise (Claborn) Cope of Byrdstown; a son and daughter-in-law, Eugene Steven and Diane Cope of Ft. Myers, Florida; a daughter, Elaine Gainer of Raleigh, North Carolina; three stepdaughters, Debbie Bilbrey, Lisa Cummings and Pam Richardson, all of Byrdstown; two stepsons, Craig and Danny Richardson, both of Byrdstown; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Leo and Jan Cope, of Akron, Ohio, and Wonza and Sue Cope, of Akron, Ohio; three grandsons; and nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. Brown Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
