From the Clinton Police Department:

At approximately 6:37a.m., officers of the Clinton Police Department responded to 1000 J.D. Yarnell Pkwy, Eagle Bend Manufacturing, on the report that a male had just shot himself on the property. The officers arrived to the scene and found a wrecked vehicle in a drainage ditch with a unresponsive male inside. The Clinton Fire Department and Anderson County Ambulance Service also responded to the scene and pronounced the male deceased. The male victim was identified as a Hezikiah Wilcox (33) of Powell, Tennessee. Officers further located a female on scene who stated that she was Mr. Wilcox’s girlfriend and had been in the vehicle with him during the incident. The girlfriend stated to the officers that Mr. Wilcox had shot himself with a firearm as they were leaving the facility, causing the vehicle to drive into the ditch. Mr. Wilcox was observed by the officers to have an injury to his head, consistent to that of a gun shot wound. Officers further located a handgun next to Mr. Wilcox during the scene examination. No other persons were injured in the incident. The state of Tennessee Medical examiner’s office was requested to the scene and the deceased was transported to University of Tennessee Medical Center. At this time, the incident is pending further investigation with all indications being that Mr. Wilcox’s injuries were self inflicted.
