Blount County deputies and medics went to the scene of a vehicle accident late yesterday on the 300 block of Russell Road. Preliminary details indicate a 2011 Nissan Sentra operated by 32-year-old Alyssa Marie Handley of Townsend lost control and struck a utility pole head-on. Handley, who was not restrained, died from injuries sustained. The sheriff’s office is continuing their investigation into the fatal crash.
