A Maryville woman lost her life in a vehicle accident last night on Sevierville Road in Blount County. Officers say a passenger, 43-year-old Angela Rudd Lowe was pronounced dead at a hospital. The driver, 48-year-old Jason Harding Lowe, was taken to U.T. Medical Center.

At approximately 9:15 p.m., a deputy was patrolling in the 4300 block of Sevierville Road when he came upon the crashed vehicle. The investigation revealed Jason Lowe was traveling south in a 2008 Honda Odyssey when the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway, crossed over a driveway and continued a short distance before striking a tree. The driver was wearing a seatbelt, but Angela Lowe was not wearing a seatbelt. The vehicle’s airbags did deploy.

The crash is under investigation.
