FLORIDA STATE COACHING LEGEND BOBBY BOWDEN DIAGNOSED WITH TERMINAL ILLNESS

Former Florida State head football coach Bobby Bowden announced today he is battling a terminal health condition.

“I’ve always tried to serve God’s purpose for my life, on and off the field, and I am prepared for what is to come,” said the 91-year-old Bowden. “My wife Ann and our family have been life’s greatest blessing. I am at peace.”

Bowden tested positive for COVID-19 last year and his health has deteriorated since. Bowden has been a part of Florida State since he took over the football program in 1976. He remained the Seminoles’ coach through the 2009 season.

Over the course of those 34 seasons, Bobby won 12 ACC Championships and two national championships. He finished his tenure at FSU with a record of 315-98-4. His 377 career wins as a head coach sit fourth all-time in college football history.

The Bowden family has asked for privacy during this time.
