Florida authorities say a postcard from a 60-year-old love interest led to a charge of attempted murder.

Officers say 71-year-old Bertha Yalter faces attempted murder and aggravated battery on a person 65 and older. Police say she tried to kill her husband after a postcard arrived from his ex-girlfriend, a woman he dated six decades ago.

Yalter allegedly became enraged at their home in North Miami Beach. The arrest report states the victim told police his wife tried to smother him with a pillow, bit and physically battered him.

Yalter is being held without bond.
