FORMER OAK RIDGE POLICE OFFICER SENTENCED ON 23 COUNTS OF OFFICIAL MISCONDUCT

A former Oak Ridge police officer has pleaded guilty to numerous counts of official misconduct.

Court officials say 35-year-old Zachary Gauthier received a two-year sentence on each of the 23 counts, with 48 hours to serve and the remainder of the sentence suspended to supervised probation.

If he completes the probation without any incidents, he will be eligible to have the charges against him expunged through judicial diversion.

Gauthier was ordered by the judge to get a mental health assessment, follow any treatment recommendation, have no contact with the victims and witnesses, surrender his Peace Officer Standard and Training Certification, and pay all of the court costs.

Court documents state Gauthier was indicted in July 2025 following an investigation into complaints within the police department. He was later fired from his position with the Oak Ridge Police Department.

According to the indictments, Gauthier was accused of accessing a mobile data terminal, Accurint, a system used to help law enforcement identify people, locations, and other assets, as well as the State Link System and Flock system for personal use.
