FORMER SCHOOL PRINCIPAL IN MORGAN COUNTY ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGES

Knoxville police took a former Morgan County school principal into custody Saturday on drug charges. Law enforcement pulled over Penny Elizabeth Boyd on Papermill Drive near Northshore Drive. Authorities reportedly found 19 grams of meth, more than 6 grams of marijuana, heroin, pills and drug paraphernalia in the car. Boyd claimed she let someone named “Jeremy” drive her vehicle a few weeks ago, but was unable to give the officer any other information. Boyd was taken to jail. She served as principal at Sunbright School from 2010 until 2012. In her last year at the school, a mother of a student said Boyd excessively spanked the child with a paddle. It was dismissed in 2014 after Boyd submitted an apology to the court.
