Fred Mason Jr. 83 years old passed away at his home on Saturday, November 2, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones. Fred being born in Tellico Plains, TN moved to Oak Ridge, TN in 1950, and a long-time member of the Frost Bottom Community. Fred enjoyed farming, hunting, gardening and loved attending church. His favorite hobby was spending time at the barn with his grandchildren.

Fred was a member of the Frost Bottom Missionary Baptist Church for 48 years and served as a deacon for 35 years. Fred was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #616 since 1976 and was a retired Sheetmetal worker from the local #5. He was a graduate of Oak Ridge High School and proudly served as a Paratrooper in the United States Army.

Fred is survived by his loving wife Mary for 54 years. Fred and Mary’s children: James Eric Mason (Emily) of Oliver Springs TN, John Mason of Oliver Springs TN, Brian Mason (Chyna) of Knoxville TN and Tiffany Mason of Oliver Springs TN. Along with his children Fred was a father to a numerous amount of foster children over the past 30 years. Sisters Phyllis Carter of Shalimar FL, Patsy Harrill (Wayne) of Karns TN and Judy Boyd (Bud) of Muskogee, OK. Sister in laws include Rebecca “Becky” Marlow (Charlie) of Oliver Springs TN and Ollie Sue Rainey of Clinton TN.

Fred is also survived by grandchildren Lane Mason (Carla), Colton Mason, Libertie Mason, Darsie Mason all of Oliver Springs TN, Seren Mason and Jayde Mason of Knoxville TN. Countless friends and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

Fred is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Pearl Mason, brother James “Jimmy” Mason, Mitchell “Mitch” Mason (Patsy), sister Faye Coots (James) brother in law Frederick Carter of Shalimar, FL along with great nephew Senior Airman Rylan Glenn of Oak Ridge, TN.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at Premier Sharp Funeral Home from 5:00PM to 7:00PM. A funeral service will be held at 7:00PM with Rev. Tim Ward and Pastor Elijah Duncan officiating.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at 11:00AM at Frost Bottom Cemetery.
