Gary Doyle McCallie, Sr., age 83 of Dayton, passed away at Rhea Medical Center on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. He was born in Chattanooga on July 10, 1942, the son of the late Austin and Naomi (Harris) McCallie. He was also preceded in death by his son, Gary McCallie, Jr; and his sister, Phyllis Poe.

Gary has resided in Dayton since 2018, prior to which he lived in Hixson. He worked in the construction industry as a crane and heavy equipment operator. He had a love for drag racing, participating as both a driver and a spectator. Gary was a member of Abba’s House in Hixson.

Gary is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marthann “Marty” (Klawonn) McCallie of Dayton; his son, Chris (Rachel) McCallie of Fort Oglethorpe, GA; his daughter, Crystal (Shannon) Adams of Dayton; his seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and his nephew, Buddy Pardue of Decatur.

A drop by memorial service is planned for Sunday, June 14, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at 7145 Homestead Circle, Hixson, TN for his friends and loved ones to pay their respects.
