Gary Lynn Rogers, age 63

Gary Lynn Rogers, age 63, was born on February 12, 1960, with his twin, Larry Rogers, to the late George and Sibyl Rogers, in Crossville, TN. Gary passed away at CMC on June 25, 2023. He attended Cumberland Fellowship with his wife and family. Gary was a proud Sergeant in the United States Army Signal Corps. After serving in the Army, he successfully pursued his passion as a draftsman/engineer. He enjoyed his many years at Crossville Inc. in the Engineering Department and the many lifelong friendships made throughout the company. He especially had a heart for teaching. As the Drafting Instructor at Tennessee College of Applied Technology, he touched many lives with his mentorship, leadership, skills, and knowledge of the industry.

Gary was a family man and enjoyed his time spent with the love of his life, Vera. They were high school sweethearts, and if you ever saw one, you always saw the other. They truly spent their 44 years of marriage by each other’s side. His favorite thing in life was being surrounded by his family no matter where they were, just as long as they were all together. He was so proud of his family. He was rich in love. He wore many hats in his life, but “Daddy” and “Papa” were his favorites. He loved his daughter Desiree and son Gary Jr. with all his heart. He welcomed son-in-law Rodney and daughter-in-law Anne Marie into his family with open arms, and he always felt like he won the lottery with the blessings of his 3 grandchildren, Audrey, Garrison, and Alexander. He loved his family, and they loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Vera Rogers, daughter Vera Desiree Wellman (Rodney), son Gary Lynn Rogers Jr (Anne Marie), granddaughter Audrey Wellman, and grandsons Gary Lynn Rogers III “Garrison” and Alexander Rogers.

He is also survived by his siblings Bob Bell of Cookeville, TN, Jim (Cindy) Rogers of Collinsville, AL, Tom Rogers of Wartburg, TN, Tammie (Randall) Dye of Crossville, TN, brothers-in-law Alan Patton and Harvey Patton both of Crossville, TN, sister-in-law Anita Rogers of Dallas, GA, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his twin brother, Larry Rogers, and sisters Kathy Patton and Debbie Patton, sisters-in-law Pat Bell, Claudine Rogers, and Debbie Bell.

Pallbearers will be nephews Toby Patton, Christopher Marsh, Willie Patton, Josh Dye, Justin Dye, and Andrew Wright, with Honorary Pallbearers grandsons Garrison and Alexander Rogers.

Services will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5-7pm with the service immediately following at 7pm, brother-in-law Eddie Frady officiating. Burial procession will start at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home at 11am on Friday, June 30, 2023. Burial will be at 12pm Hales Chapel Cemetery.

Gary never knew a stranger and genuinely loved everyone he met.
