Gary Neal Reed, age 63, passed away on Friday August 1, 2025. He was born in Sylva, North Carolina to Ernest Ray Reed and Mellena Morrow Reed on April 17, 1962.

Gary is preceded in passing by his parents. Gary is survived by a sister, Sharon Reed Kerber (Michael) of Asheville, North Carolina and a brother Ernest Randall Reed (Kim) of Greensboro, North Carolina. Six nieces and nephews: Nova Melvin (David), Deena Matayabas (Greg), James Reed, Will Reed, Jacob Kerber (Mary Wade), Matthew Kerber (Danielle), and five great nieces and nephews: Kirsten, Abby, Emily, Roland, Emerson and several cousins.

Gary enjoyed fishing and camping along with his trucker life. He had a great singing voice and performed in a barbershop quartet for a time in his life. Gary previously worked for Food Lion and served as a worthy past president of the Fraternal Order of The Eagles 2514 in Oak Ridge, TN for 2 years. Gary was a driver for Young Bloods trucking from 1995 – 2003, while working there he was awarded a safety award. Gary retired from Morristown Drivers Service in 2024. Gary also loved car racing and football, he often listened to the sport on the radio while he drove his truck. Most of all, Gary enjoyed his Yamaha motorcycle. He often stated that he needed to start his motorcycle first so he could hear it above the Harleys. He deeply cared for his friends and long-time best friend Lee Mesnard.

A Celebration of Life will be held August 9, 2025 at the FOE Eagles, 2514 in Oak Ridge, TN at 1:00 p.m. A private inurnment with family will be at a later date at Piney Grove Cemetery in Canton, North Carolina.
