Geneva Baker Newman, age 97, of Harriman, went home to be with the Lord March 11, 2025.
Geneva was a longtime member of Trenton Street Baptist church. She graduated from Harriman High School in the class of 1947, worked 14 years at Johnson’s Music Shop and 28 years at Bank of Roane County.
Geneva was preceded in death by beloved husband Ernest C. Newman, parents Samuel Peter Baker and Mary F. Currier Henley, step-father Jessie H. Henley, grandson Joseph Samuel McCoy, brother Benjamin F. Baker, sisters-in-law Mary A. Baker and Kathleen Huff Baker, nephew Ben Baker, special aunt Nannie Baker Vann, step-daughter Judy Newman Reeves, step-son Richard Newman.
Survivors include daughters Rebecca (Randy) Musick, Robin (Rick) Wright, Judy (Kyle) Beverly. Grandchildren Katie (Jerry) Rowe, Sara (Andy) Garrett, Kyle (Cara) Beverly, Kirby (Morgan) Beverly, Amanda (Matt) Perry. great-grandchildren Jake Thomas, Emmy Thomas, Jonah Garrett, Josie Garrett, Sawyer Beverly, Avery Beverly, Kennedy Beverly. Niece Martha (Eddie) Hagler, step-brother Ralph Henley, cousins, great nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held Monday, March 17, 2025, in Roane Memorial Gardens at 2 p.m. with Pastor Kyle Beverly and Pastor David Williams officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trenton Street Baptist Church or Potter’s House Fellowship Church. Kyker Funeral Home in Harriman is serving the Family of Mrs. Newman.
