Geneva Potter, 90
Mrs. Geneva Potter passed away peacefully at the Eden Vista Care Center of Prospect Heights, Illinois, on Tuesday evening, February 24, 2026.
She was born on December 12, 1935, on her family’s farm in Morgan County, Tennessee. She helped with farm chores and attended high school for two years. On July 4, 1952, she married Russell Potter and moved to Indiana where Russell was honorably discharged from the army. In early 1953 the couple moved to Chicago to find work and raise their two sons. Eventually they returned to Tennessee and spent most of their remaining years in Crossville.
Geneva is preceded in death by her husband, Russell; parents, John and Grace McCormick; sister, Juanita; and five brothers: Charles, George, August, John, Jr., and Christopher.
She is survived by one sister: Helena (Nelson) of Lancing, Tennesse, and two sons: Jim Potter (Yvonne) of Raleigh, North Carolina, and John Potter (Lynn) of Mt. Prospect, Illinois.
She will be greatly missed by her six grandchildren: James Potter (Leila) of Raleigh, North Carolina, Alyssa Graves (Ryan) of Peoria, Illinois, Shannon Collop (John) of Palm Harbor, Florida, Melissa Luhn (Derek) of Lomira, Wisconsin, and Cynthia Stefan (Ryan) of Palatine, Illinois; and seven great grandchildren: Lewis and Eliot Potter, Harrison Graves; Caedmon, Emma, and Nora Collop, and Owen Stefan.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 5, at 11:00 at the Davis Funeral Home in Wartburg from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Potter’s Chapel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Geneva’s memory be made for the care of Potter’s Chapel Cemetery, Morgan County, Tennessee.
