Geneve “Gennie” (Shelton) Beaty, 78
Geneve “Gennie” (Shelton) Beaty, age 78 of Grimsley, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2026 at her home surrounded by her family.
Gennie was born in Albany, Kentucky on June 4, 1947. She was the third of six children. She graduated from Clinton County High School in 1964 with honors. She was always a very hard worker and took on many roles throughout her life. She moved to Indiana to work when she was 19 years old and that is where she met her future husband, David. They later moved to Fentress County and established their home in Grimsley. Most of the jobs Gennie had was serving and helping others. She worked as a school lunch lady, she worked at the nursing home and she worked as a caregiver. Gennie had a love for others and took pride in caring for and attending to other people’s needs.
Her life hasn’t been an easy one, there have been many heartaches for her. But, Gennie’s faith in Christ has carried her through every sorrow she encountered. She was a faithful member of Grimsley Church of Christ where she accepted Christ and was baptized. She has expressed many time during her illness that she knows and is confident, she is going to heaven.
2 Timothy 4:7 is an appropriate scripture for illustrating Gennie’s life and final days. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” In Gennie’s final days she repeatedly said, “I want to see Jesus and hear Him say Welcome Home Sister.”
The family wishes to express their gratitude to all who have supported Gennie during her illness. Your gestures of love are immensely appreciated.
